Sebastian Peter Heinz Alexander Jacoby (born April 8, 1978 in Oberstdorf ) is a German curler and quiz player . In 2008 he was European champion in curling . He became known to a larger television audience in April 2012 as the winner of the quiz show The Super Champion . Since 2013 he has appeared as a "hunter" in the quiz show Asked - Hunted .
Curling
In 1996, 1997 and 1998 Sebastian Jacoby was a member of the German national junior team. Led by Skip Sebastian Stock , the team achieved 3rd, 6th and 4th places at the U21 World Championships in Red Deer (Canada), Karuizawa (Japan) and Thunder Bay (Canada). In the men's area, Jacoby later joined the SC Riessersee team with Skip Rainer Schöpp . The team's greatest success was the German runner-up in 2005.
Between 2007 and 2009 Jacoby started at three mixed European curling championships. In 2007 in Madrid the team won the bronze medal. In 2008 in Kitzbühel , Austria , the European championship title was won with a final victory over the Czech Republic.

Jacoby has been a quiz master in Oberstdorf and Duisburg since 2005. He has been taking part in the quiz world championships every year since 2007 and has always been one of the three best German participants.
In April 2012 he was one of the candidates in the ZDF quiz show Der Super-Champion , moderated by Jörg Pilawa at the time (since 2013, The Quiz Champion with Johannes B. Kerner ). As part of the show, he first prevailed against five celebrities and then beat the candidate Matthias Moehl in the jump-off. This secured Jacoby prize money of 500,000 euros. In a Champions Special in November 2016, all finalists of the previous programs competed again. There Jacoby was eliminated in the second duel against Tim Mälzer in the nutrition category .
In autumn 2013 he took part in the ARD game show Die Deutschen Meister 2013 in the category " City - Country - River ". He was defeated there by Klaus Otto Nagorsnik , who was his fellow hunter at Asked - Hunted the following year .
In May 2014 Jacoby appeared with the team "Die Quizchampions" in the 1st season of the show Quizduell , moderated by Jörg Pilawa . The quartet was able to defeat the smartphone app users (“Team Germany”) with 16:13 and achieved a total of 22,000 euros.
Sebastian Jacoby has been appearing in the role of “hunter” since 2013 in the ARD quiz show Asked - Hunted , moderated by Alexander Bommes . His battle name here is "The Quiz God".
Sebastian Jacoby is a member of the German Quiz Association and regularly takes part in the quiz tournaments and championships organized by the association. In 2012 and 2014 he was German quiz champion in individual. 2013, 2017 and 2020, he won together with Sebastian Klussmann the German double Championship and 2019 and 2020 together with Sebastian Klussmann, Roland Knauff and René Waßmer the German team championship. In 2013, 2016 and 2017 Jacoby also won the German buzz championship.

After graduating from the Gertrud-von-le-Fort-Gymnasium Oberstdorf , Jacoby studied economics at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Duisburg and at the Arkansas State University and from 2002 received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation .
