The German Quiz Association e. V. is a registered association founded in June 2011 with headquarters in Berlin , which, among other things, supports the promotion of quizzes as a competitive sport in Germany and organizes quiz competitions nationwide. The chairman is Sebastian Klussmann from Berlin , who on the TV show Asked - Hunted is a "hunter" against whom the candidates must compete.

Objective, purpose of the association

The main aim of the association is to impart knowledge in the context of quiz games that are held nationwide, and another is to promote quizzes as a competitive sport in Germany. There is also cooperation with international quiz associations.

The annual staging of the quiz world championship on German soil, which is organized by the International Quizzing Association , is named as an additional objective ; The German Quiz Association is responsible for the implementation in Germany as a local partner.

In 2015, the 10th Quiz World Cup took place on German soil; The venue was Hanover.

In addition, the association provides the German national team in quizzes, which takes part in international quiz competitions - including in particular the annual European quiz championship . In 2006, German players took part in the European Quiz Championship for the first time, and since 2011 also as a national quiz team, organized by the DQV.

The association is of national importance through the regular organization of nationwide quiz competitions. The association organizes the German Quiz Championship every year, in which a single, a double, a buzzer and, since 2019, a team championship are played. Up to and including 2018, the German championship took place together with the German offshoot of the quiz world championship in June, since then separately in February.

Since 2013, the association has organized the Deutschland Cup every month, except in June and November, at more than 20 locations in Germany and abroad. The results of the respective venues are included in a nationwide overall rating, which results in an overall winner at the end of the year. At many locations of the Germany Cup, the city cup and a special cup are played as further quiz competitions, in Memmingen there is also a knockout and a lightning quiz.

Since 2011, the association has been holding regional quiz championships in November, in which the best quiz player in a region or state is determined.
