Hans Karl Adam

Hans Karl Adam (born December 29, 1915 in Neisse in Silesia ; † April 8, 2000 in Rothenburg ob der Tauber ) was a German television chef in the 1950s. He was very well known at the time through the program Der Fernsehkoch moderated by him and Franz Ruhm on Bayerischer Rundfunk , which was broadcast throughout the broadcasting area of ARD . He also became known through his collaboration with the first German TV chef, Clemens Wilmenrod , who was not a trained cook and therefore gave Adam "tutoring". The toast Hawaii (often attributed to Wilmenrod) was probably invented by Adam.

Before he started working on television, Adam was head chef and ship cook at North German Lloyd .

He was a member of the German Gastronomic Academy and ran the Hotel Adam, the small hotel in Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

Publications

Adam wrote over 80 cookbooks with simple recipes, books about the cuisine of different regions, themed cookbooks as well as books with recipes using branded items (e.g. Bols recipe book for pastry shops and patisseries ).
