Georges Hacquin (born February 10, 1924 in Brussels ) is a former Belgian racing driver and entrepreneur.

Racing career

Georges Hacquin's career began at the beginning of the 1950s, in an era in which many Belgian racing drivers celebrated their first successes in international motorsport. They included Paul Frère , Lucien Bianchi , Olivier Gendebien , Jacques Swaters , Johnny Claes and Willy Mairesse , among others . He was and is close friends with Freddy Rousselle (1927–2016), Gérard Langlois van Ophem (* 1935) and Jean Blaton (* 1929).

Hacquin first competed in amateur races and drove his first season in the Belgian touring car championship in 1952 on a Simca . In addition to racing on the circuit, he also took part in many rallies . In 1958 he became Belgian rally champion and competed in the European rally championship until 1983 . The last emergency car was an MG Metro 1300S .

On the circuit, his first international success was fourth overall in the 1.5-liter class at the Reims 12-hour race in 1956 . His partner in this endurance race , which was won by Richard von Frankenberg and Claude Storez in a Porsche 550 RS , was his compatriot Georges Harris . The emergency car was also a Porsche . 1957 he went with partner Claude Dubois that 24-hour race at Le Mans . The Porsche 550A RS reported by the Equipe Nationale Belge was disqualified after eight hours of driving for illegal refueling.

According to his own information, Georges Hacquin contested more than 250 races, including the Tour de France for automobiles , the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring , the 1000 km race in Paris and the 24-hour race in Spa -Francorchamps at the start. He ran a building cleaning company in Brussels well into old age and took part in the Dakar Rally for the first time in 1981 at the age of 55 , where another four outings followed by 1985.
