Werntho Schenk von Reicheneck († April 8, 1335 ) was elector of the bishopric of Bamberg from 1329 to 1335.

Life

After Wendehorst, the family originally came from the Lower Maing area , until they went into the Staufer ministry and named themselves after Reicheneck Castle near Hersbruck . She was dott in the retinue of the Counts of Hirschberg . Werntho's nephew Heinrich V. Schenk von Reicheneck was almost at the same time Prince Bishop in Eichstätt .

Werntho Schenk von Reicheneck was elected Bishop of Bamberg on April 16, 1328 in a battle vote of the cathedral chapter . He was made bishop by Pope John XXII. only appointed on May 8, 1329, after the death of his opponent, Johann von Nassau . However , he never received episcopal ordination. He gave the Carinthian town of Wolfsberg the city charter . He also gave the order for the city fortifications of Vilseck , built between 1332 and 1380 .
