Johann II. (Bamberg)
Johann von Nassau († 1329 ) was from 1328 until his death in 1329 as Johann II. Prince-Bishop - Elekt of the bishopric of Bamberg .
Life
Johann von Nassau came from the widely ramified House of Nassau . Other family members also achieved high ecclesiastical dignity. These included Johann von Nassau as Bishop of Utrecht (1267–1288), Diether von Nassau as Archbishop of Trier (1300–1307), Gerlach von Nassau as Archbishop of Mainz (1353–1371), Adolf I of Nassau as Bishop of Speyer since 1371 and as Archbishop of Mainz (1381–1390), Johann II of Nassau as Archbishop of Mainz (1397–1419), and Adolf II of Nassau as Archbishop of Mainz (1462–1475).
At the time of the election of Johann von Nassau as Prince-Bishop, Johannes XXII. Pope in Avignon and Nicholas V, Roman antipope. Emperor was Ludwig IV (see also List of Heads of State 1328 ). Johann was only in office for a short time and died before he could receive episcopal ordination .
