Lyane Leigh (2016)

Lyane Leigh , pronunciation: "Laien Li", pseudonym ; (* April 8, 1969 , in Hattingen ; real life Liane Hegemann ) is a German pop singer . She works in the music genres dance / techno, pop, hit music and their mixed forms. She achieved international fame in the 1990s through the Eurodance project E-Rotic .

Live and act

Liane Hegemann comes from the German-Dutch border region Limburg . She attended schools in Grubbenvorst and Venlo , then studied until 1998 at the School of Audio Engineers in Cologne. Her singing career began in 1987 with her first engagements on the Coconut Records label . At first she belonged to the pop girl band Twenty-One . For the Euro disco project Bad Boys Blue she contributed the female vocals in one of its most famous tracks Come Back and Stay and also performed with the group. In 1989/90 she was part of the German-speaking pop hit formation Xanadu , which just missed qualifying for the Eurovision Song Contest in both years . In addition, she published some hits as a solo artist under the names of Lyane and Lyane Hegemann .

In 1994 she started the dance floor project E-Rotic with her former co-singer at Xanadu, who is now producer David Brandes . The music actually corresponded to the style that was very popular at the time, including “Marafrasi” (= man raps, woman sings, in alternating passages). However, E-Rotic had the extreme focus on the subject of sex as a special feature. The songs regularly contained moans from Lyane Leigh. Well-known titles of the internationally successful project include a. Max Don't Have Sex with Your Ex , Fred Come to Bed or Sex on the Phone . In the interplay of the representativeness for that phase in music history and the special conspicuousness, E-Rotic stands in the general consciousness of German society like hardly anything else for the 1990s. Lyane Leigh only appeared publicly for E-Rotic until 1995, but continued to sing for the recordings up to and including 1998, to which her successor Jeanette Christensen then moved her lips. From 2000 Lydia Madajewski held Leigh's post until the project was temporarily terminated in 2005. In 2015, E-Rotic was revived and Leigh made a comeback as a studio singer there and has since appeared again in public.

The early E-Rotic singers Lyane Leigh and Raz-Ma-Taz founded their own dance floor project SEXAppeal in 1996 (from which Raz-Ma-Taz soon left). Although the music and performance resembled those of E-Rotic down to the last detail, SEXAppeal did not achieve a hit and was not particularly well known. With some changes over time, of course, this project continued until at least 2017. In addition, Lyane Leigh (as Lyane Leigh ) published a few German-language pop songs.

Since 2015 David Brandes and Lyane Leigh have formed again to form E-Rotic. They bring out new material, but above all they appear at 90s festivals, which are very popular in the Czech Republic, Finland and Russia, for example. In contrast, the singer is now doing her solo activities as Lyane Hegemann (pronounced “Lyane” in German). She produces this music in the mixed area of Pop / Schlager herself with her company 3H Records in her own studio in Brüggen .
