Georg Christian Benedikt Ackermann
Georg Christian Benedikt Ackermann , actually Georg Benedict Ackermann , also Georg Ackermann (born March 3, 1763 in Vier , † April 8, 1833 in Schwerin ) was a German theologian , educator , pastor and court preacher .
Life
Ackermann was the son of the farmer Georg Ackermann , attended school in Schwerin, then in 1782 the Friedrichs University in Bützow and Göttingen , where he studied theology . In 1792 he became a collaborator at the Landschullehrerseminar in Ludwigslust and from 1794 headed the teaching of the Hereditary Prince Friedrich Ludwig as his court master until he was appointed second court preacher in 1801; In 1808 he became superintendent in Schwerin and scholarch of the cathedral school, in 1819 consistorial councilor and in 1830 chief court preacher .
He also dealt with the organization and improvement of the elementary school system, the orphanages and the poor. The subjects of his writings were practical. He wrote to the pastors in the country a counselor for preachers who take office: or instructions on how to behave correctly when performing official duties ; he dealt with church economics (1823) and observed the language of the common man in Meklenburg with regard to pulpit lectures .
On June 26, 1830, the University of Rostock awarded him an honorary theological doctorate on the occasion of the three hundredth anniversary of the Augsburg Confession .
