Abuse in the US gymnastics team

In November 2017, as part of the #MeToo campaign , Douglas made public that she had been abused by the former team doctor of the American gymnastics team, Larry Nassar . In the course of the MeToo campaign, McKayla Maroney made public in mid-October 2017 that she was also a victim of Nassar. Aly Raisman followed suit at the beginning of November and Simone Biles in January 2018 .

The newspaper Indystar had already reported on the abuse by Nassar in August 2016 . Shortly thereafter, former gymnast Rachael Denhollander and an Olympic medalist, whose name remained anonymous, filed a complaint against Nassar. In February 2017, Jamie Danztscher reported about the abuse by the team doctor. In April 2017, it was revealed that dozens more girls had been molested by Nassar.
