Marija Kondratjewna Gorochowskaja ( Russian Мария Кондратьевна Гороховская ; born October 17, 1921 in Evpatorija ; † July 22, 2001 in Tel Aviv-Jaffa ) was a Soviet gymnast. She joined the Stroitjel Charkow club and won a total of seven medals at the 1952 Olympic Summer Games in Helsinki ; No woman before or after her could achieve this success at an Olympiad. Gorochowskaja achieved five second places with silver medals, so that she could decide the individual all-around for herself in the total, since none of her competitors could show a similar consistency on the gymnastics equipment. She also won the team all-around with the Soviet team.
Marija Gorochowskaja had her second and last major international appearance at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rome in 1954 , where she again won the team all-around competition and won the bronze medal in floor gymnastics .
Then she ended her active career and worked as a referee at international gymnastics events and as a lecturer. In 1990 she emigrated to Israel .
