The Meyer & Meyer Fachverlag und Buchhandel GmbH is a German publishing house from Aachen . He specializes in non-fiction books on sports topics. Long-time publishers and managing directors were the married couple Hans Jürgen Meyer and Irmgard Meyer-Purpar. In 2011, another managing director was appointed with the previous authorized signatory Bernd-Frank Krümmer, after his resignation in 2013, Martin Meyer, the son of the publisher couple and Michael Wieser, two further managing directors were appointed. Currently (as of September 6, 2019) Martin and Robert Meyer are the managing directors of the publishing house.

The publisher's scientific advisory board currently (as of September 6, 2019) includes Hans Peter Brandl-Bredenbeck, Wolf-Dietrich Brettschneider, Christoph Breuer, Ulrike Burrmann, Dieter Hackfort, Erich Müller. The editorial advisory board currently (as of February 14, 2019) includes Hermann Aschwer and Berndt Barth.

The publishing house was founded on January 18, 1984 by Hans Jürgen Meyer and his father Johann Meyer. In 1985 Irmgard Meyer-Purpar became a partner in the publishing house, her father-in-law Johann Meyer left the company.

From 1986 the sports magazine "Condition" appeared in cooperation with the "Interest Group of Cross-Country Skiers" in Meyer & Meyer Verlag. In 1987 the first international license of a Meyer & Meyer book was sold to the Netherlands and the first volume by the team of authors Klaus Bischops and Heinz-Willi Gerards was published, which was followed by more than 25 more volumes over the years. At the end of the year, Meyer & Meyer Verlag had more than 160 books available and one year later (at the end of 1988) the publishing program already included more than 220 books.

In 1989 the American publisher "Shelter Publications" acquired the first licenses for the American bestselling author Jeff Galloway . The first regional book with the title “Die Eifel” by Hans-Peter Schnepel appeared in the ten-volume series “Preiswert Reisen in Deutschland”. The scientific publishing advisory board was founded, which was chaired by Wolf-Dietrich Brettschneider, Helmut Digel, Jürgen Baur and Peter Schwenkmezger.

Under the presidency of Meyer & Meyer Verlag, the “World Sport Publishers' Association” was founded in 1991 at the Frankfurt Book Fair, a global organization of sports publishers. “Sport into the 90's” was the publisher's first English-language title.

In 1992, the German Turner Association and Meyer & Meyer Verlag started a still existing collaboration. The following year the publishing house moved to Von-Coels-Straße 390 in Aachen-Eilendorf, where it is still located today.

In 1995 the first English-language program appeared with fourteen available titles. In 1998 the UK-based subsidiary "Meyer & Meyer Sport UK, Ltd." was founded. Geoff Cowen became managing director.

The publisher cooperated with the World Triathlon Corporation and in 2002 acquired the license to publish training books under the Ironman brand . The new publishing domains www.mm-sports.com and www.dersportverlag.de were introduced.

The editorial board was founded in 2006 - it included Hermann Aschwer, Berndt Barth, Dieter Massin and Johannes Roschinsky. The publisher has also been offering its program electronically since 2007 and is going online with the newly established web shop. The official anti-doping books of NADA and the Austrian and Swiss anti-doping associations were published by the editors Rüdiger Nickel and Theo Rous. The publisher received the exclusive German-language licenses for the well-known book series by Men's Health and Runner's World .

In 2008 a department for e-publishing was established. The website has been expanded and now also covers the areas of science, school sports and regional activities.

The publisher is represented at the Frankfurt Book Fair . He also takes part in book fairs outside of Europe.
