Annette Michler-Hanneken

Annette Michler-Hanneken (née Michler; * 1963 in Hattingen ) is a six-time German champion in artistic gymnastics . After Uta Schorn's resignation , she dominated the competition for three years in the Federal Republic of Germany and was also able to convince internationally. As the first West German athlete, she twice made it into the all-around finals at gymnastics world championships.

Sporting successes

Annette Michler attended the Holthausen grammar school in Hattingen from 1973 to 1982 . She won her first German gymnastics championship in 1977 on the balance beam . In 1978 and 1979 she was able to successfully defend this title. Also in 1978 and 1979 she was German gymnastics champion in the all-around competition . In 1978 she also won the German Uneven Bars Championship . She started for the TuS Hattingen .

Annette Michler took part in gymnastics world championships twice. In the title fights dominated by gymnasts from the Eastern Bloc countries, she was one of the few western participants to reach the finals of the best 36. At the XIX. At the 1978 World Gymnastics Championships in Strasbourg ( France ), she took 9th place in the team ranking and 21st place in the individual ranking in the all-around category, the highest ranking of an artistic gymnast from Germany up to that point. A year later she reached the XX. Gymnastics World Championships in Fort Worth ( USA ) 13th place with the team and 27th place in all around. In the USA, too, she was the best West German starter.

At the XIII. At the 1979 European Gymnastics Championships in Copenhagen , Annette Michler was again in the all-round finals . Once again as the best West German participant, she came in 23rd this time.

Current activity

After graduating from high school in 1982, she studied to become a qualified sports teacher. Today Annette Michler-Hanneken works for the state accident insurance fund North Rhine-Westphalia ( Düsseldorf ) as a specialist for sport and physical activity promotion . She is responsible for the areas of occupational health and safety with a focus on schools and day-care centers. In this capacity, she worked in the steering group of the action program “Safety and Health Promotion in School Sports in North Rhine-Westphalia ”. In another project she was involved in the development of standards for accident prevention in the planning, construction and operation of high and low rope courses.
