The Holthausen grammar school is a grammar school in Hattingen - Holthausen in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is located there in a school center. In the school year 2011/12, around 1200 students were taught by 82 teachers and seven trainee teachers at the school .

history

The grammar school was founded in 1918 and was located on Bismarckstrasse. In 1975 the construction of a new school building began. A triple sports hall , a sports arena with a lawn and an indoor swimming pool were also built for the school . When the construction costs threatened to exceed DM 50 million, the construction of the planned cafeteria, which could have provided an all-day school with school meals, was initially canceled. The total construction costs, including the interior fittings, came to DM 42.9 million. The new building was occupied in the summer of 1978. In addition to the grammar school, the secondary school, which was previously located in the “Heggerfeld” building, moved into the new premises. The Marie Curie Realschule Holthausen has been located in the buildings that are now known as the Holthausen School Center since 2003 . However, the secondary school closed on July 31, 2016 due to too few students and thus left the rooms in the Holthausen school center. Since November 2017, part of the vocational college has been located in the rooms of the secondary school.

The gymnast Annette Michler celebrated her athletic successes during her school days at the grammar school .

In addition to many working groups and project groups, especially in sport and in the artistic and musical field, the school has a working group that prepares students for the French DELF language test. The robot company successfully took part in the robot competition in 2007 and 2011 of the state initiative “Future through Innovation.NRW”. A particular focus of the school is the extensive range of support and care options. The school takes part in the “Kommit” initiative, whose aim is to reduce the number of repeaters at the end of the school year through targeted individual support. There is a cooperation between the upper levels and the Waldstraße grammar school in order to be able to offer a wider range of subjects.
