Samuel Mursinna

Samuel Mursinna (* 1717 in Stolp , Pomerania ; † 1795 in Halle (Saale) ) was a Protestant- Reformed theologian of the Enlightenment in Prussia .

life and work

After attending the Latin school in Stolp, Samuel Mursinna came to Berlin in 1731 , where he attended the Joachimsthalsches Gymnasium until 1738 . From 1738–1740 he studied in Halle and was then tutor until 1745. In 1745 his actual professional career began with teaching positions at Friedrichswerder and the Joachimsthalsches Gymnasium in Berlin. From there he was appointed to his position in life as a reformed theology professor at the University of Halle and as head of the reformed grammar school illustrious in Halle. He held these offices until the end of his life in 1795.

The focus of his academic teaching was on theology . His lectures at the illustrious grammar school in Halle resulted in four compendia in the theological sub-disciplines: Outline of a theological encyclopedia , (1764), homiletics (1766), dogmatics (1777), ethics (1778). He also edited a Greco-Latin edition of Polyainos ' Strategemata / Strategika (1756).

Samuel Mursinna was the uncle of the medical professor Christian Ludwig Mursinna (1744-1823).
