Alina Süggeler (born May 6, 1985 in Witten ) is a German singer . She became known as the front woman of the band Frida Gold . She also occasionally works as a model .

Life

Musical career

Alina Süggeler grew up with her two siblings in Hattingen . As a child she sang in the Catholic church choir. She started playing the piano at the age of five and the flute at the age of twelve. Her brother Fabian is the front man of the band Fynn . She processed the divorce of her parents in the Frida Gold song Breathe On . Even while she was still at school, Süggeler took part in various youth competitions, including Jugend musiziert .

After graduating from high school in Holthausen , she began studying flute at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, which she broke off after two semesters. In Bochum she worked as a saleswoman in a boutique. Together with the guitarist Julian Cassel, she took the "contact course in popular music" at the Hamburg University of Music . Through the contacts of the bass player Andreas Weizel, with whom Süggeler was in a relationship during the development phase of the debut album, Süggeler's band Frida was added to the band pool of the Pop Academy in Mannheim and later renamed itself Frida Gold . In 2014 she was a jury member for the app casting show Keep Your Light Shining alongside Ricky Martin .

In 2015 she played a supporting role in the comedy film Der Nanny, alongside Matthias Schweighöfer , Milan Peschel , Andrea Osvárt and Joko Winterscheidt .
