Enping ( 恩平 市 , Ēnpīng Shì ) is an independent city in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong . It is located west of the Pearl River delta .
geography
The landscape of the city of Enping is generally hilly, with mountains in the northwest. In the south, Enping touches the Zhenhai Bay (镇 海湾) of the South China Sea . The climate is subtropical to tropical ; the average January temperature is 13.5 ° C, the average July temperature around 28 ° C. The annual rainfall is about 2350 mm.
history
Enping was founded as Enzhou (恩 州) in 219 and renamed to Enping around 750. Since 1994 Enping is officially an independent city.
economy

On the one hand, the mining of marl , granite , precious stones , coal , gold , copper , tungsten , potash salts and around 20 other minerals is of economic importance . Enping's industry is primarily based on the manufacture of cement and electronics; Enping is known within China as the capital of microphones . In the urban area of Enping alone there are more than twenty cement factories, which cause very high levels of air pollution. Other important products are food, shoes, textiles, machines and household appliances.
The city of Enping is an important food producer in Guangdong. In addition to rice , sugar cane , peanuts , cassava roots, soybeans , fruits, vegetables and plants are also grown for traditional Chinese medicine .
Tourism plays a subordinate role in Enping, the only attractions are hot mineral springs a little outside the actual city area.

The county-level city of Enping is part of the prefecture-level city of Jiangmen . Neighboring are Yangchun and Xinxing in the north, Kaiping in the northeast and east, Taishan in the southeast and Yangdong in the southwest. traffic
Enping is on the Guangzhou - Kaiping - Yangjiang highway , which cuts through the urban area. Apart from this recently opened transport link and the national road 325, which runs parallel to the motorway, the roads are rather poor. There is no railway connection, nor is there a port.
