Jonathan "Jonny" Hayes (born July 9, 1987 in Dublin ) is an Irish football player who is under contract with the Scottish first division club FC Aberdeen .
Career
society
Jonny Hayes, who was born in the Irish capital Dublin, began his career in England with Reading FC . The attacking midfielder played for the Berkshire club until 2004 in the Youth Academy . In the 2004/05 season , the talent was already a few times in the squad of the team trained by Steve Coppell . Until his contract ended in 2007, however, he was not used for the club known as Royals . Instead, Hayes was awarded in 2006 and 2007. Initially active for the Forest Green Rovers in the Conference National , the loan to Milton Keynes Dons in the Football League Two followed . In July 2007, Hayes signed a three-year contract with the then second division team Leicester City . He made his debut for the Foxes on August 11, 2008 in the league game of the Championship against Blackpool FC when he was substituted on for Joe Mattock . In the second half of the season Hayes played on loan at Northampton Town in League One . In the following season 2008/09 he was loaned to Cheltenham Town . In July 2009, the offensive player moved to the Scottish second division club Inverness Caledonian Thistle . With his new team he won the second division title and made the promotion to the Scottish Premier League perfect. Hayes scored 10 goals in 35 games and was third-best goalscorer after two other Irish team- mates Adam Rooney and Richie Foran . In the final of the Scottish League Challenge Cup against FC Dundee , Hayes was able to prepare the two goals for a 2-0 lead by Adam Rooney and Nauris Bulvītis . The Caley Jags were defeated 3-2 after 90 minutes against the Dees . In June 2012, Hayes moved to Aberdeen FC . With the Dons he won the Scottish League Cup 2013/14 in the final against his old club from Inverness . The Irishman had to be replaced by Cammy Smith in the sixth minute after a shoulder injury . In December 2014, Hayes extended his contract to 2018.
On June 17, 2017, he signed a contract with the reigning Scottish champions Celtic Glasgow . After three years in Glasgow in which he was three times champion, and won other national titles, he moved back to Aberdeen in 2020.
National team
On March 25, 2016, he made his first international match in Dublin against Switzerland . On May 12, 2016 he was appointed by national coach Martin O'Neill in the provisional 35-player squad for the EM . In the end, however, it was not taken into account for the European Championship finals.
