Funso-King Ojo (born August 28, 1991 in Antwerp ) is a Belgian football player who is under contract with FC Aberdeen .
Career
society
Funso Ojo, who has partly Nigerian ancestry, began his career in his native Belgium. He came to Germinal Beerschot through the small district association of Antwerp Olse Merksem SC . For the Antwerp club he played in their youth teams until 2004. This was followed by a move to the top Dutch club, PSV Eindhoven, during his youth . Here he made his debut on May 5, 2009 under the experienced coach Huub Stevens in the professional team. In the Eredivisie game against Willem II Tilburg , Ojo came on for Jason Culina in the 84th minute . In the following years he only came to his assignments sporadically in Eindhoven under the new coach Fred Rutten . In 2011 it was briefly awarded to VVV-Venlo .
In 2012 he returned to Belgium for two years. After a season with his youth club Beerschot, which was refused the license in 2013, he joined the city rivals Royal Antwerp the following six months . In January 2014, the defensive midfielder moved to the Dutch second division club FC Dordrecht . With the club he rose to the Eredivisie at the end of the 2013/14 season . After the team was relegated the following year as bottom of the table, Ojo remained in the first division. He joined Willem II Tilburg for two seasons .
The 25-year-old moved to England in July 2017. At Scunthorpe United he was a regular player for two seasons before the Scottish first division club FC Aberdeen secured his services for a six-figure transfer fee. He made his debut for the Dons in July 2019 in the European Cup against Satschchere from Georgia.
National team
Between 2005 and 2011 Ojo played for the Belgian Football Association. After his debut in the U-15 in 2005, he played in the U-16 from 2006 . His first international match in the U-17 national team followed in 2017 . After a two-year hiatus, Ojo played in the U-20s and U-21s of Belgium in 2010 and 2011 .
