The SR 400 is an all-rounder motorcycle from the Japanese manufacturer Yamaha , which has been in production since 1978 and is based on the Yamaha SR 500 . The designation "SR" stands for "Single Road".
Model history
For a long time the SR 400 was only available in Japan , while in Europe and the USA the largely identical, but larger displacement SR 500 of the types 2J4 (Europe until 1982), 2J2 (USA until 1980) and 48T (from 1983 to 1999) was marketed . In the motorcycle scene in Japan, the SR 400 is firmly anchored due to the driving license regulations there and is still sold today. The SR 400 has been marketed in a new version (including with injection system ) in Europe and the USA since 2014 . However, sales in Europe ended in 2016 because the air-cooled engine no longer meets the emissions standard that will apply from 2017 .
