The Yamaha XV 1900 A Midnight Star is a motorcycle model from the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha and was on the market from 2006 to 2016. The 2-cylinder V-engine of the XV 1900 A is still the largest air-cooled two-cylinder engine in the world installed in a mass -produced motorcycle .
Facelift
The Yamaha XV 1900 A was built almost unchanged from its market launch in 2006 to its end of production in 2016, apart from optical changes (color-coordinated coordination). From model year 2011 the XV 1900 A was equipped with a combination brake (UBS). This ensures that the brakes on the front wheel are also activated when the foot brake lever is pressed. Since the 2013 model year, the XV 1900 A has been equipped with an anti-hopping clutch ( slipping clutch ). However, ABS was neither standard nor optional until the end of production.
On the US market, the Yamaha XV 1900 A Midnight Star was offered as the Star Roadliner (standard version) and Star Stratoliner (standard with disc, sissy bar and case) with 11% more power (100 hp). The main differences to the EU version are: larger opening for the air filter, larger exhaust pipe, also two-tone paintwork and automatic turn signal reset. The immobilizer, hazard warning lights and the parking lights in the headlights are missing.
Characteristic
The XV1900A Midnight Star is a cruiser that runs very smoothly. Two balance shafts reduce the vibrations of the damperless crankshaft. It has a variable exhaust valve (EXUP system) that adapts the cross-section of the exhaust to the engine speed, which increases the engine's efficiency in the lower and medium engine speed range. Other special features are the forged pistons, two four-valve cylinder heads, dual ignition and the hydraulic clutch. The wheel load distribution of 49.6% at the front and 50.4% at the rear is similar to that of a super sports car and gives the XV1900 good handling.
