The FZ 8 is a motorcycle series from the Japanese manufacturer Yamaha Motor . The motorcycle is available as a naked bike FZ 8 or as a sports tourer Fazer 8. In contrast to the FZ 8, the Fazer 8 has a partial fairing. Following the trend typical of the sporty mid-range models for more displacement, the FZ 8 has replaced the previous FZ 6 model series. The output is also in the range of the competition with 106 hp.

ABS is installed as standard in Germany. But there is also a variant without ABS on the market. The version without ABS is very easy to recognize by the lack of cladding on the exhaust and engine. The models with ABS have a two-part engine spoiler there, which covers components of the ABS system.

The engine is a reduced version of the FZ 1. The displacement has been reduced by means of a smaller bore, the crankshaft has been lightened, and a cylinder head with only four valves is used. This reduces the power from 150 to 106 hp. The frame and swing arm are also identical to the FZ1. The big difference lies in the adjustable spring elements of the FZ 1. With the FZ 8, only the spring base of the shock absorber can be adjusted. Otherwise there are some slight differences in the design, but these are only noticeable in a direct comparison with the FZ 1. The FZ 1 is more of a street fighter, while the FZ 8 has been designed a bit more discreetly as a modern naked bike.

The colors have changed for the 2012 model year. The FZ 8 is now available in white with black rims, black with gold rims and gray silk matt with black rims. There is also a special model in the Yamaha Racing colors white / red for the 50th anniversary of Yamaha racing. The rims of this model are also painted black.

In the 2011 model year, the colors blue with gold rims, white with gold rims and black with black rims were available. The version without ABS is only available in black with black rims. The model without ABS was still offered in black in 2012.
