The Yamaha XSR 700 is an undisguised motorcycle from the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha . Production takes place at the Yamaha MBK plant in Rouvroy in northern France . Sales of the naked bike started in March 2016.
Conception
The basic concept in the Japanese motorcycle customizer designed Shinja Kimura and the Yamaha design team in the Italian Monza advanced Roadster to the classic lines of a Yamaha XS 650 from 1976 with the modern technology of a Yamaha MT-07 combine. Central technical assemblies of the MT-07 such as the engine, frame, chassis and brake system remained unchanged in the XSR 700. Conceptually comparable to the XSR 700 is the Ducati Scrambler 800 .
technology
drive
The liquid-cooled two-cylinder in-line engine generates a nominal output of 55 kW (75 hp) from a displacement of 689 cm³ . Due to the crank pin offset of 270 °, the ignition interval of the in- line engine is similar to that of a V2 engine with a 90 ° cylinder angle, which results in its characteristic sound. The engine vibrations resulting from the irregular piston movement are reduced by a balancer shaft.
Chassis / running gear
The backbone frame consists of steel tubes, the rear frame is, unlike the MT-07, screwed on and can be removed for individual rear modifications. The chassis consists of a telescopic fork without adjustment options at the front and a two-armed swing arm with a central spring strut, in which the preload of the spring is adjustable. The wheels consist of 17-inch aluminum rims with tires measuring 120/70 ZR17 at the front and 180/55 ZR17 at the rear. The motorcycle is decelerated on the front wheel by two 282 mm brake discs in wave design, four-piston brake calipers and a standard ABS .
Others
Visible metal surfaces such as the fuel tank cover, radiator cowling and wheel cover are made of aluminum. The wide handlebar is cranked backwards and enables an upright sitting position; a small digital round instrument is mounted in the middle. The central spring strut located below the seat and the rear silencer located under the engine are mounted close to the vehicle's center of gravity. The curb weight in running order is 186 kg.
Reviews
"A lot of MT-07, a little scrambler, a little classic, a powerful headlight - that results in a mixture that you have to get used to."
"At first glance the XSR might look like a retro but, if you take a closer look, I think you'll agree it's much more like what Ducati made with the Scrambler: a nice looking standard motorcycle."
