Yamaha Fazer
Yamaha Fazer is the name of a series of motorcycle models from the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha in the sports tourer category , which are widely used because of their sporty design, suitability for everyday use and their comparatively low price.
Model history
The term Fazer comes from the English verb to faze , which translated means something like 'annoy', 'annoy', 'disturb' or 'discourage' and is probably an allusion to the top dogs of the 600 class at the time, who the FZS600 in their Introduced in 1998 should stand up.
FZX 700/750
The name "Fazer" first appeared in 1985 on the Yamaha FZX 750 Fazer . This model was the "Urfazermodel" with the new five-valve technology, but had little to do with the later Fazer models, but was rather a small version of the Yamaha V-Max and was mainly used for the American, but also for the European Market the nickname Fazer . The FZX was only 700 cm 3 in the USA , compared to the European version with 750 cm 3 .
FZS600
The Fazer, as it is better known today, was introduced in 1998 as the FZS 600 Fazer and replaced the Yamaha XJ as an entry-level model at Yamaha . Like the YZF 600, with which it shares a large number of components, it received the revised engine from the Yamaha FZR, an instrument cluster with two trip meters and a clock, a more comfortable padded seat, a better ergonomic handlebar and new colors.
The 2001 vintage was characterized by a new range of colors, before the front section was redesigned in 2002. The "snub nose" gave way to a more modern half-shell (also called "long nose") similar to the FZS1000. This last facelift was associated with extensive technical changes: two 60/55 watt headlights with separate parking lights, 22 liter tank with adapted shape (for fairing), 5-way adjustable handbrake lever, new throttle cable, new protection of the rear brake hose, stainless steel Exhaust system (manifold still matt black), longer mirror arms, new radiator protection, rev counter in the center of the cockpit next to the speedometer, six-digit odometer and two trip meters, digital clock on the dial of the rev counter, modified bracket for the chain guard on the swing arm, other wiring harness and electrical parts (relay, Lima, etc. ), modified carburetor tuning.
FZS 1000
The "big sister", the FZS 1000 Fazer , appeared in 2001 with type code RN06 as a touring offshoot of the Yamaha YZF-R1 , whose 1999 model series also provided the engine and the powerful fixed caliper brakes. The engine was slightly modified in favor of more good-natured behavior and more torque .
As of model year 2003, some small technical updates were made as part of the facelift, such as tighter fork springs or permanent light switching (previously controlled by a switch on the handlebar fitting). In addition, the range of colors has been changed. For example, instead of DPBMC blue, the darker DPBML “Galaxy Blue” or instead of black the yellow-black, which is unique for this year (see picture on the right). With the last facelift in 2005 (code RN14), the FZS 1000 received an unregulated catalytic converter and a modified control of the EXUP system.
FZ6
In 2004 the 600 series came out completely revised under the name FZ6 Fazer , which was also offered as FZ6-N without fairing. The N may as an abbreviation for in this context probably naked understood. The type code for model years 2004–2006 is RJ07 . The FZ6 was powered by a modified engine from the Yamaha YZF-R6 . The most important innovation here: multi-point intake manifold injection instead of carburettor. From model year 2006 the FZ6 had ABS on board as standard. With model year 2007 it also received a regulated catalytic converter (Euro 3) and was throttled to 78 hp. There was still the FZ6 Fazer S2 with 98 hp , for which the fairing, swing arm, seat and passenger pegs were revised. This received one-piece brake calipers at the front and the same speedometer / rev counter element (analog rev counter, digital speedometer) as the FZ1. Please note that both models ( S2 and non-S2 ) from model year 2007 onwards have the type code RJ14 . With model year 2008, the FZ6-N was also available as an S2 variant. From model year 2009 there were only the S2 models.
FZ1
The FZS 1000 was replaced by the FZ1 in 2006 (type code RN16). The most important innovations compared to the predecessor are an intake manifold injection instead of a carburetor , a 43 mm upside-down fork and an aluminum die-cast frame that integrates the engine as a supporting element.
Like the FZ6, the FZ1 is also offered with fairing (as FZ1 Fazer ) and without fairing (as FZ1-N ). The engine of the 2005 Yamaha YZF-R1 , which has been optimized for more touring suitability, serves as the basis for the engine .
From model year 2007 the FZ1 will be available in new colors and the FZ1-S Fazer with ABS . The 2008 vintage again comes up with new colors (including white for the FZ1-N). Another important change is a modified ignition control in order to eliminate the often criticized load change reactions.
FZ8
In 2010 the FZ6 was replaced by the new FZ8. Please refer
