William Graber

William Noe Graber (born January 21, 1911 in Ontario , California , † March 8, 1996 in San Bernardino , California) was an American track and field athlete who was successful in the pole vault in the first half of the 1930s . He jumped world records and took part in two Olympic Games . William Graber had a competition weight of 81 kg with a height of 1.88 m.

  • In 1931, 32 and 33 he was first on the world's best list
  • In 1931, 32 and 33 he won the IC4A championship three times in a row (but only in 1931 he was sole champion with a jump of 4.28 m)
  • In 1931 and 33 he won the NCAA title: 1931 with 13 ′ 10 5/16 ″ and 1933 with 13 ′ 11 1/16 ″
  • On July 16, 1932 in Stanford he improved the world record twice: 14 ′ 1 5/8 ″ (= 4.30 m) and 14 ′ 4 3/8 ″ (= 4.37 m)

He was less successful at the Olympic Games. In 1932 in Los Angeles he was fourth, in 1936 in Berlin fifth, both times with a jumped height of 4.15 m.
