The Yamaha YZF 600 R Thundercat is a supersport motorcycle from the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha , which was offered in Europe from 1996 to 2004. In the USA the model was sold up to and including 2007.
history
The YZF 600 R Thundercat was placed by Yamaha as the successor to the FZR 600 in the super sports segment . Despite good driving performance, it was difficult to assert itself on the racetrack against the sometimes much lighter competition and was replaced in 1999 by the YZF-R 6 , which impressed with its much more radical design. From then on, the Thundercat was advertised as a super sports tourer , which corresponded to its properties significantly better. Its advantages, such as a comfortable seating position, double seat bench and effective paneling, came into their own better on the country road than on the circuit.
Model development
There were only minor changes to the Thundercat during the entire production period.
from model year 1998:
- black lacquered rear silencer instead of stainless steel casing
- modified rear damping with 5 positions instead of 20
Additional technical data
- Acceleration (0-100 km / h): 3.6 s

- Front headlight H4, 60/55 W, 12 V
