The XS 500 is a touring motorcycle with an air-cooled two - cylinder four-stroke engine from the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. and was the first production motorcycle with a four-valve cylinder head. It came onto the market in 1973 as the TX 500 and, technically advanced in some points, was part of the Yamaha range in Germany from 1976 to 1979 as the XS 500.
