The Yamaha XJ 6 is a 4-cylinder motorcycle from Yamaha and is available as a naked bike (XJ 6), with partial fairing (XJ 6 Diversion) or with full fairing (XJ 6 Diversion F). It is the successor of the successful XJ 600 Diversion .
General
With the XJ 6, Yamaha wants to follow up on the successful XJ 600 Diversion. In the middle class, the Yamaha FZ 6 Fazer was designed too much for sportiness for many buyers, so that Yamaha brought the more docile XJ 6 onto the market in 2009. The performance is typical of this class at an insurance-favorable 78 hp.
In Germany, the XJ 6 Diversion F has only been available with motorcycle ABS since 2010. Before that, as with the other two versions, ABS was still subject to a surcharge.
technology
The engine of the XJ 6 originally comes from the Yamaha FZ 6 Fazer . Except for the stroke ratio , every essential component was changed or redesigned. Only the valve lift was changed on the camshaft. The cylinder head, crankshaft, intake and exhaust system and also the clutch including gearshift have been adapted. The injection system got new software and more sensitive sensors. The muffler is completely new and sits under the engine, which ensures a low center of gravity.
The old XJ 600 was built in the classic double tube frame principle. This is cheap and makes a solid impression. Unfortunately, this frame construction turned out to be problematic, which is why the old XJ 600 - in connection with the somewhat delicate fork - caused some difficulties in certain situations.
Since the XJ6 followed the principle of a cheap motorcycle, the frame construction had to be correspondingly cheap. A high-quality aluminum bridge frame was therefore ruled out.
A new generation of frame construction has been developed for the XJ 6. The principle of a high-quality bridge frame was used and the structure made of steel tubes. The real highlight, however, is the use of double-screwed metal plates as a stabilizing element in the entire structure, whereby the motor also serves as such. On the one hand, this is extremely cheap and, on the other hand, an extremely slim structure (frame) is achieved.
As a result, the frame of the XJ6 has a stable, torsion-resistant construction, which inevitably has a positive effect on driving behavior.
