Günter Aust

Günter Aust (born February 12, 1921 in Cologne ; † May 2, 2018 in Bad Münstereifel ) was a German art historian .

Life

Günter Aust studied art history and received his doctorate in 1954 from the University of Cologne under Hans Kauffmann . He then worked as curator at the Wallraf-Richartz Museum in Cologne , where he published, among other things, on Otto Freundlich and the 1912 Sonderbund exhibition in Cologne. From 1962 until his retirement on April 1, 1985 he was director of the Von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal .
