Lawrence Shankland (born August 10, 1995 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish football player who plays for Dundee United .
Career
society
Lawrence Shankland started his career in his hometown Glasgow , at Queen's Park FC . In the 2012/13 season , the striker made his debut for the fourth division on matchday 1 against FC East Stirlingshire , and scored his first goal. By the end of the season he scored nine more goals and was the team's top scorer. In July 2013 Shankland moved to the Scottish first division club FC Aberdeen . Besides Aidan Connolly and Andrew Robertson, he was one of three Spiders players who switched directly to a first division club. In Aberdeen, Shankland was initially used in the U-20 team for six months before the 18-year-old was loaned to the Scottish third division club Dunfermline Athletic from January to May 2015 . There he was able to convince in 13 games with seven goals, and was the club's third-best goalscorer after Ryan Wallace and Andy Geggan . After returning to Aberdeen, he played his first game for the Dons in September 2014 on their professional team against Inverness Caledonian Thistle . By the end of the season he was a total of seventeen times but remained without a goal. In the 2015/16 season he played on loan at the second division FC St. Mirren and was the team's second best scorer with ten goals after Stevie Mallan .
National team
Lawrence Shankland played four times in the Scottish U-21s in 2015 . On his debut against Hungary in Tatabánya in March 2015 , the striker scored two goals in a 2-1 win after being substituted for Declan McManus . In the three other games against Northern Ireland , France and Iceland Shankland remained without a hit.
On October 1, 2019, Shankland was appointed by national coach Steve Clarke for Scotland . He made his debut against Russia on October 10th. Three days later he scored his first goal in the national shirt against San Marino.
