Dillon Thomas Powers (born February 14, 1991 in Plano ) is an American football player on the position of midfielder .

Career

Youth and amateur football

Powers was born in Plano and played there for his hometown club, Andromeda SC, and for his high school soccer team. In his senior year of high school, he was named Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year . He then switched to the team at the University of Notre Dame .

Club career

On January 17, 2013, he was chosen as the eleventh pick in the first round of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids , which then offered him a professional contract. In the same year, he was named Rookie of the Year ahead of his teammate Deshorn Brown .

In January 2020 Powers moved to the Scottish second division club Dundee United .

National team

Powers has played through two US national teams in his career . He was also part of the squad of the United States men's national soccer team (U-20 men) in the U-20 football world championship in 2009 .
