David Gray (born May 4, 1988 in Edinburgh ) is a Scottish football player who plays predominantly in midfield . He is currently under contract with Hibernian Edinburgh in the Scottish Championship .

Career

The midfielder, who played for Heart of Midlothian in his youth, joined the youth department of Manchester United at the age of 16 for a training allowance of £ 50,000 . During the 2005/2006 season, Gray played mostly on the Manchester United reserve team. On October 25, 2006 Gray played his first professional game for Manchester in the League Cup against Crewe Alexandra . Gray played from the start, but was replaced in the second half for the winning goal scorer Kieran Lee . In January 2007, Gray was loaned to Royal Antwerp to get more match practice. After only two games for Royal Antwerp, he was sidelined for the rest of the season due to an injury. In November of the same year he was loaned out again - to Crewe Alexandra, for whom he played a game.

In early January 2009 he was awarded to the championship club Plymouth Argyle until the end of June of the same year . Gray played 14 games for the Pilgrims , but could not score. After the loan period expired in the summer of 2009, he returned to Manchester, did not play a league game there for the Red Devils and was later loaned again to Plymouth.

Between the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons Gray played for Preston North End in England's second-rate Football League Championship . For the 2012/13 season, Gray is transferring to Stevenage FC on a free transfer .

Gray has been playing for Hibernian Edinburgh since 2014.
