Alexander "Alex" Gogić ( Greek Αλέξανδρος Γκόγκιτς * April 13, 1994 in Nicosia ) is a Cypriot soccer player of Serbian origin. Gogić, who is active as a central defender , has been under contract with the Scottish first division club Hibernian Edinburgh since 2020 .

Career

society

Alex Gogić was born in Nicosia in 1994 as the son of the Cypriot international Siniša Gogić when he was under contract with Anorthosis Famagusta . After his father played for Olympiacos Piraeus between 1997 and 2000 , he himself remained in the club's youth in Greece until he was 19. In July 2013 he moved to Swansea City, Wales, for which he played in the U21 and U23.

In February 2017, the 22-year-old signed a contract with Hamilton Academical until the end of the 2016/17 season in Scotland . He made his debut for the Accies on March 11, 2017 in a 4-0 away loss to Heart of Midlothian . After another 4-0 defeat by Glasgow Rangers , his contract was extended to May 2018 after just two games. With the Accies he finished 11th at the end of the season and had to play in the relegation against Dundee United . Gogić was on the field twice for the full 90 minutes and held the zero with his team. A goal from Greg Docherty kept the league 1-0 after the return leg. After he had fought for a regular place at the beginning of the 2017/18 season , his contract was renewed again in December 2017. His new contract was extended to 2020.

After his contract with Hamilton had expired, Gogic moved within the first division in Scotland to Hibernian Edinburgh .

National team

Alex Gogić played seven times for the Cyprus U-19 national team between 2012 and 2013 . On May 1, 2012 he made his debut against Estonia in Tallinn when he came on for Kostakis Artymatas .
