Joseph "Joe" Peter Newell (born March 15, 1993 in Tamworth ) is an English football player who is under contract with the Scottish first division club Hibernian Edinburgh .

Career

Joe Newell was born in 1993 in Tamworth, about 25 kilometers northwest of Birmingham . He began his career at Birmingham City , next to Aston Villa the largest club in the city. At the age of 16 he came to Peterborough United , for whom he made his professional debut on April 25, 2011 in a 2-2 draw in the third division game against Yeovil Town . The midfielder was previously loaned to the National League South at St Albans City from January to February 2011 . After Peterborough was promoted to the second division at the end of the 2010/11 season , Newell came more to use times in the championship . In the 2011/12 season he scored his first goal against Leeds United in April 2012 .

In August 2015 he left the club, which was again playing in the third division. In his last season he came to 39 league games and two goals. He signed a contract with the second division club Rotherham United . With this he descended in 2017 and rose again in 2018 . Newell was a regular in Rotherham throughout the contract period.

In June 2019, the 26-year-old moved to the Scottish first division club Hibernian Edinburgh .
