Darren McGregor (born August 7, 1985 in Edinburgh ) is a Scottish football player who plays for Hibernian Edinburgh .

Club career

Darren McGregor began his career with the Arniston Rangers before joining Cowdenbeath FC . With the club he was able to complete the 2005/06 season as a third division champion in his first year as a professional . After seven years of club membership, McGregor moved to FC St. Mirren in June 2010 together with his team manager Danny Lennon , under whom he had played for two years in Cowdenbeath . He signed for two seasons at the Paisley City Football Club, founded in 1877 . He made his debut for the new team on Matchday 1 of the 2010/11 season in the home game against Dundee United . In February 2012, the defensive player extended his contract, which was running out at the end of the season, for another two years. He missed the 2012/13 season almost completely due to injury, including the final of the Scottish League Cup . The following season he completed 35 of 38 possible league games for the Buddies . In June 2014 he signed a contract for a season plus option with the Glasgow Rangers , with whom he played in the second-rate Scottish Championship . Despite his 37 league appearances as a regular player in the 2014/15 season , the Rangers did not extend his contract, so McGregor moved to Hibernian Edinburgh .
