Anthony "Tony" Watt (born December 29, 1993 in Coatbridge ) is a Scottish football player . The striker is under contract with Motherwell FC .
Club career
Tony Watt was born in Coatbridge, which is in the North Lanarkshire region and in close proximity to the largest city in Scotland, Glasgow . Watt's career began at Airdrie United in the junior division until he was first appointed to the first-team squad in 2010. He made his debut for the third division in the Challenge Cup against Ayr United . Watt celebrated his league game debut against FC East Fife in August 2010, which shortly after being substituted on, scored the goal to make it 3: 3. In December 2010 the Scottish Football League named Young Player Of The Month , the two Scottish top clubs Celtic and the Rangers became aware of the talented striker. In January 2011, Watt signed a three-year contract with the Hoops with Kelvin Wilson who came from Nottingham Forest . In Glasgow he first played in the Youth Academy and made his debut in the professional squad of Celtic against FC Motherwell in the 2011/12 season . As a substitute for Paweł Brożek in the 59th minute , Watt scored two goals in a 3-0 away win. After Celtic had signed two new strikers with Amido Baldé and Teemu Pukki at the beginning of the 2013/14 season , Watt was awarded the Belgian first division club and four-time champion of the Lierse Sportkring Koninklijke . In July 2014 Watt moved to Standard Liège for an unknown transfer, with whom he signed a long-term contract until 2019. He made his debut for the new team against KV Kortrijk on the 2nd match day of the 2014/15 season when he came on in the 64th minute of the game for Paul-José Mpoku . Until the winter break of 2014/15, the striker had played in twelve other league games for the club, scoring two goals. In January 2015, Watt signed a three and a half year contract with English second division club Charlton Athletic . From November 2015 to January 2016 it was loaned to Cardiff City , followed by another loan from January 2016 to the end of the season to Blackburn Rovers . In July 2016, Watt was awarded to the Scottish first division club Heart of Midlothian for the 2016/17 season . The loan ended on January 1, 2017.
National team
In September 2011 Watt made his debut in the U-19 national team of Scotland against Slovenia, a year later in the U-20 against Mexico, and in the U-21 against Luxembourg. In March 2016 Watt made his debut in the Scottish senior team against the Czech Republic in Prague when he came on for Ross McCormack .
