Bevis Kristofer Kizito Mugabi (born May 1, 1995 in Harrow , London ) is a Ugandan football player who plays as a center-back for Motherwell FC in the Scottish Premiership . Previously he was active in the English Football League for Yeovil Town . Born in England, he represents Uganda on an international level.

Career

Bevis Mugabi was born in Harrow , a borough of London, to parents from Uganda. He began his football career in the western district of Fulham . Until 2011 he played in the youth team of Fulham FC . In July 2016 he moved to the Youth Academy of Southampton FC on the south coast of England. From this he moved to the English fourth division club Yeovil Town in August 2016 . He made his first team debut on August 9, 2016 when he came on in the 54th minute for Liam Shephard in a league cup match against FC Walsall . In his first year he became a regular player. At the end of the 2018/19 season , Mugabi Yeovil left after the club was relegated.

On September 12, 2019, Mugabi signed a contract with Motherwell FC from Scotland until January 2020 .

National team

Born in England, Mugabi was eligible to play for the English and Ugandan Football Associations. In August 2016 he received his first invitation to the Ugandan national team for the friendly game against Kenya and the qualifier for the upcoming African Nations Cup 2017 against the Comoros . Mugabi, however, was refused arrival by his club team Yeovil Town . The reason given was the brief announcement of the convocation.

In March 2018, Mugabi received his second invitation to the Ugandan national team for two international friendly matches. He made his debut for Uganda on March 24, 2018 in a 3-1 win over São Tomé and Príncipe . After another use against Malawi in the same month, he stayed for a year without taking into account national coach Sébastien Desabre .

In 2019 the central defender was nominated for the Africa Cup . In preparation for the tournament, he played two more international matches. During the tournament he came to three inserts in the preliminary round. He did not play in the defeat in the round of 16 against Senegal .
