Scott Arfield (born November 1, 1988 in Livingston ) is a Canadian - Scottish football player who is under contract with the Glasgow Rangers .

Career

Scott Arfield began his career at Murieston United, a neighborhood club from his native Livingston . He then played until 2007 in the youth team of Falkirk FC, about 19 km northwest of Livingston. On the 1st matchday of the 2007/08 season Arfield made his professional debut for the first division against FC Gretna when he was substituted on for Arnau Riera . With Falkirk Arfield reached the Scottish Cup final in 2009 which was lost to the Glasgow Rangers . As a defeated cup finalist, the club took part in the Europa League the following season . After the club was relegated at the end of the 2009/10 season as bottom of the table, Arfield moved after three seasons as a top performer and regular player to England to the third division Huddersfield Town there . In the second season he was promoted to the English second division. After a year in the championship with Huddersfield, Arfield moved to league rivals Burnley FC in 2013 . There he celebrated promotion to the Premier League twice in 2014 and 2016 .

In May 2018, Arfield signed a four-year deal with Glasgow Rangers , making it Steven Gerrard's first signing .

The native Scots Arfield made his debut in February 2007 in the Scottish U-19 against Austria . After another assignment in this age group in the same month against Norway , he was used from October 2007 in the U-21 . He made his debut against the Netherlands when he came on for Rocco Quinn . In March 2016, Arfield, whose father comes from Toronto, Canada , was appointed to the squad of the Canadian senior team. He made his debut in the World Cup qualifier against Mexico in Vancouver . In 2017 he took part with the national team in the Gold Cup in the United States and reached the quarter-finals.
