Cedric Itten (born December 27, 1996 in Basel ) is a Swiss football player who is under contract with the Glasgow Rangers .

Career

Itten started playing football at FC Black Stars Basel and moved to Old Boys Basel a year later . In 2007 he moved to the juniors of FC Basel . He signed his first professional contract on August 21, 2015. He made his Super League debut on February 21, 2016 in a 5-1 home win at St. Jakob-Park against Vaduz . Under coach Urs Fischer , Itten won the championship title with FCB at the end of the 2015/16 season . For the club it was the seventh title in a row and the 19th title in the club's history.

In June 2016 Itten was loaned to FC Luzern for one year until June 30, 2017 . Itten scored his first goal for Lucerne in the 3-1 away win on August 10, 2016 against FC Vaduz with a head to the final score.

After Itten had already been loaned to FC St. Gallen for the second half of the 2017/18 season, the eastern Swiss definitely secured his services for the new season and signed him for three years until summer 2021.

In the game on September 23, 2018 against FC Lugano , Itten was seriously injured after a gross foul by Fabio Daprelà , he tore a cruciate ligament and a tear in his right knee and was out for at least six months.

After his return, at the beginning of the 2019/20 season , he had his regular place again and convinced in the St. Gallen jersey. That season he scored 19 goals in 34 games.

His first move abroad followed on August 4, 2020. Itten moved to the Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish Premiership . He made his debut for Rangers on August 8, 2020 against FC St. Mirren (3-0) when he came on for Alfredo Morelos in the 75th minute.

National team

Itten completed various international junior matches for Switzerland, six in the Swiss U-18 , six in the Swiss U-19 , eight in the Swiss U-20 and seven in the Swiss U-21 . He was also in the squad of the Swiss U-21 national team . On November 15, he made his senior national team debut in the match against Georgia and scored the decisive 1-0 for Switzerland shortly after being substituted on in the 77th minute. Only three days later, on his second mission, Itten managed a "double pack" against Gibraltar.
