Samuel George Alan Edmundson (born August 31, 1997 in Wythenshawe ) is an English football player who is under contract with the Glasgow Rangers .

Career

George Edmundson was born in Wythenshawe , a suburb of Manchester . He began his career in Oldham, ten kilometers away, with the Athletics . In 2015 he signed his first professional contract with the club. He made his debut in the same year on September 1, 2015 in the Football League Trophy game against Shrewsbury Town which was won 1-0. The central defender was in the starting line-up. Later in the 2015/16 season Edmundsson came to two appearances in the third division in England.

From September 2016 to January 2017, Edmundson was loaned out to Alfreton Town in the National League North . In eight games he played for the team and was able to achieve a brace in the game against FC Chorley as a defender. From October 2017 to January 2018, Edmundson was loaned to AFC Fylde in the National League . In ten games he remained without a goal.

After his return to Oldham Athletic which only played in the fourth division, he remained a supplementary player in the first year. In the 2018/19 season Edmundson was able to fight for a regular place. Together with the experienced Peter Clarke , he formed the central defender duo at the Latics. Edmundson was voted League Two Team of the Year at the end of the season.

In June 2019, he moved to the Glasgow Rangers in Scotland for a transfer fee of around £ 700,000 and signed a four-year contract. He made his debut for Rangers in Europe in a 6-0 win over St Joseph's FC from Gibraltar.
