history
The stadium is fully equipped with seats, covered and offers space for 13,742 visitors. The attendance record is 35,632, which was established in 1952 at a Scottish FA Cup game against the Glasgow Rangers .
Today the stadium has a rather unbalanced appearance with large grandstands contrasting with small grandstands. The largest grandstand is the South Stand , a huge two-tier structure reserved for away fans and completed in 1993. Directly opposite is the comparatively small Davie Cooper stand , built in 1995 and named after the former Steelmen player . In contrast to the other tiers, these two stands have advertising names.
The East Stand East Stand is the former standing area that was completely seated. Opposite is the main stand built as a main stand . In this unusual grandstand, a steel girder of the roof construction runs completely along the square, but only two thirds of the tiers themselves. During construction in 1962, the club lost the dispute with the owner of a plot of land protruding into the stadium area and could not complete the grandstand. After the death of Motherwell's captain Phil O'Donnell in 2007, the main stand was renamed after the Scottish international.
