Darian MacKinnon (born October 9, 1985 in Dumbarton ) is a Scottish football player who plays for Partick Thistle .

Career and life

Darian MacKinnon was born in Dumbarton, 20 km northwest of Glasgow. When he was 16, he was charged with assault and sentenced to four and a half years in prison when he was 18 . He spent two years and seven months in a young offender facility. He became a father for the first time shortly after his release.

MacKinnon began his football career at Dumbarton United, Dumbarton Harp, St. Thomas and St. Patrick's Athletic before joining Clydebank FC in May 2010 . In addition to football, he also worked on construction sites. In July 2012, MacKinnon signed his first professional contract with the second division Hamilton Academical at the age of 26 . After a use in the League Cup against Annan Athletic 4 August 2012 in which he managed a goal and two league games in the same month against Raith Rovers and Cowdenbeath , MacKinnon was in the 2012/13 season from September to November to the third division Ayr United awarded . In his first game for United, he scored twice in a 2-4 defeat by Queen of the South . During the loan, he played for the club from the south-west of Scotland eight times, scoring three goals. After returning to Hamilton , MacKinnon rose to the 1st division with the Accies at the end of the 2013/14 season . In 2018 he became the club's team captain .

In January 2020 he moved to the second division Partick Thistle .
