Lieselotte Vossnack

Lieselotte Vossnack , also Liese Lotte, (born January 27, 1908 in Remscheid , † June 25, 1997 in Hanover ) was a German art historian .

Life

Lieselotte Vossnack, daughter of the print shop owner Friedrich Vossnack and his wife Hedwig, b. Krumm, attended the state reform high school in Remscheid . From 1928 she studied art history, history, classical archeology and philosophy at the University of Bonn , then from 1929 at the University of Berlin . In Berlin, she became a student of Albert Erich Brinckmann and was after his move to the University of Frankfurt there on June 27, 1936, a work about the architect Pierre Michel d'Ixnard doctorate .

In 1937/38 she was initially a research assistant, then until 1946 research assistant at the chair for building history at the Technical University of Hanover with Uvo Hölscher . From 1939 to 1944 she was part-time representative of a teacher at the Master School of German Crafts in Hanover. From 1946 to 1951 she was a lecturer in art history at the Technical University of Hanover and was on June 25, 1951 Art and architectural history with a thesis on the architect Christopher Wren habilitation . She then worked as a research assistant at the chair for architectural and art history until 1952, then as a lecturer and from 1954 as a lecturer. In 1960 she was appointed adjunct professor, in 1966 scientific advisor and professor. In 1973 she retired.

Her areas of expertise were the history of architecture and art from the 16th to the 18th centuries, as well as the history of garden architecture .
