Stephen McGinn (born December 2, 1988 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish football player who was last under contract with FC St. Mirren .

Career

society

Stephen McGinn began playing football as a seven-year-old in the youth of St. Mirren FC . In July 2016, he signed his first professional contract with the Saints. He made his debut for the first team on January 1, 2007 in the Scottish Premier League against Inverness Caledonian Thistle when he was substituted on for David McKenna . Three weeks later, in his second game, he was in the starting line-up for the first time in a 5-1 defeat at Celtic Glasgow. He scored the interim equalizer to 1: 1. He played for the club for four years in the highest Scottish league before McGinn was signed in January 2010 by the English second division club Watford . From January to April 2013 he was awarded to the third division club Shrewsbury Town . Then he was under contract with Sheffield United . After he was loaned to FC Dundee in his Scottish homeland , the club signed him shortly thereafter. In August 2015, however, McGinn moved again to England. He signed a two-year contract with the Wycombe Wanderers from the 4th division. McGinn moved back to his youth club FC St. Mirren six months before the end of his contract in January 2017. With the club, which is now playing in the second Scottish division, he was promoted to the Premiership in 2018 . He left the club in June 2020.

National team

Stephen McGinn played once in the Scottish U-19s against Slovenia in 2007 . Between 2009 and 2010, McGinn played eight games in the U-21 .

family

Stephen McGinn's brothers, John and Paul are also soccer players. His grandfather, Jack McGinn, was a professional footballer and later chairman of Celtic Glasgow and president of the Scottish Football Association .
