Oran Kearney (born July 29, 1978 in Ballymoney ) is a former Northern Irish football player who works as a football coach .

Career

As a player

Oran Kearney was born in Ballmoney, 30 kilometers northwest of Ballymena . At Ballymena United he played in the NIFL Championship , the second highest division in Northern Irish professional football, until 2005 . From 2005 he played for four years at Linfield FC in the first division .

As a trainer

Shortly after his career as a player, Kearney took over the coaching post of Limavady United . He led the Northern Irish second division team to third (2009/10 season) and two (2010/11 season). He then became a coach at the first division club Coleraine FC . He also worked as a physical education teacher in Ballycastle . He led the club to cup victory and runner-up behind Crusaders FC in 2018 . In September 2018, Kearney succeeded Alan Stubbs at FC St. Mirren . The newcomer to the Scottish Premiership had previously separated from Stubbs. After a year in Scotland, Kearney went back to Coleraine FC.

Oran Kearney is the son-in-law of Kenny Shiels , who also works as a trainer.
