Joe Shaughnessy (born July 6, 1992 in Oughterard ) is an Irish football player who is under contract with FC St. Mirren .

Career

Joe Shaughnessy joined Aberdeen FC in Scotland in 2009 from his home in Ireland . For the team known as the Dons , he made his debut on the penultimate match day of the 2010/11 season against Hibernian Edinburgh . From September 2011 to May 2012 it was awarded to Forfar Athletic along with Nicky Low . Active again at Aberdeen from the 2011/12 season , he won the Young Professional of the Month award for December (2012). That same month, Shaughnessy extended his contract with the FCA for three more years.

In 2019 he moved to England to join Southend United .

National team

Shaughnessy participated with the Irish U-19 national team in the 2011 U-19 European Football Championship and has been part of the U-21 national team since 2013 .
