Richard Neil Peter Tait (born December 2, 1989 in Galashiels ) is a Scottish football player who plays in the position of full- back at FC St. Mirren .

Career

Richard Tait began his career in Ashton-under-Lyne , Greater Manchester with the English amateur club Curzon Ashton . For the club he played in the Northern Premier League between 2007 and 2008 . In January 2008 Tait received a contract with the professional club Nottingham Forest . This loaned him to Tamworth FC in March 2009 . After the end of the 2008/09 season he finally left Nottingham for Tamworth. For the English fifth division club Tait was active until 2013. He was without exception a regular player in every season.

In May 2013, Tait moved to league rivals Cambridge United . With this he rose in the first year of membership in the fourth-class League Two . At Cambridge, too, the full-back was a constant in the squad. Although Tait helped the team stay up in the 2014/15 season through his performances , his contract was not renewed after two years.

Tait then moved back to the fifth division to Grimsby Town . Also at this station he was a regular in the full-back position. He was able to celebrate promotion to the fourth division with Grimsby after they had prevailed in the promotion play-offs against the Forest Green Rovers at Wembley Stadium . For Grimsby, it was a return to the Football League after six years .

However, after only a year he left Grimsby and signed a contract with the Scottish first division club FC Motherwell in June 2016 . With Well he lost the final of the Scottish Cup and League Cup in the 2017/18 season against Celtic Glasgow .

In June 2020 Tait moved to FC St. Mirren within the Premiership .
