Jak Alnwick (born June 17, 1993 in Hexham ) is an English football goalkeeper who is under contract with FC St. Mirren .

Career

Jak Alnwick was born in 1993 in Hexham , in the north of England. He started his career at Sunderland AFC . In youth Alnwick moved to arch-rivals Newcastle United . Before his debut for the Magpies , the young goalkeeper was loaned to FC Gateshead in the National League . In the 2014/15 season Alnwick made his debut for Newcastle against Chelsea in the Premier League. He came on as a substitute for the injured second goalkeeper Rob Elliot in the 2-1 home win . By the end of the season, he played in five more league games before Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul came back from injury. For the last two months of the season, the 21-year-old was loaned out to third division club Bradford City . In the same year he left Newcastle and signed a contract with FC Port Vale . In the third division he was the goalkeeper and played 41 league games in the first year. After another half series, Alnwick moved to the Glasgow Rangers in Scotland in January 2017 . In August 2018, Alnwick was awarded to the English third division club Scunthorpe United . There he was a regular goalkeeper in the 2018/19 season. A year later, the Rangers awarded him to Blackpool FC, who also played in the third division in England.

In June 2020 he moved to FC St. Mirren .

National team

Jak Alnwick played for England's U-17 and U-18 from 2008 to 2011 . With the U-20 he took part in the 2011 World Cup for this age group in Colombia. As the third goalkeeper behind Jack Butland and Lee Nicholls , he was not used.

His older brother Ben Alnwick is also a professional footballer in the position of goalkeeper.
