Jamie McGrath (born September 30, 1996 in Dublin ) is an Irish football player who is under contract with FC St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership .
Career
society
Jamie McGrath played in the youth team of St Patrick's Athletic from Inchicore, a district of the Irish capital Dublin , until 2014 . For the club, he made his debut in the first team in the League of Ireland on October 17, 2014 . He was in the starting line-up for the game against Athlone Town . It remained the only use in the 2014 season .
In the middle of the 2015 season , when one of the regular strikers Christy Fagan sustained a knee injury, McGrath was used for a long time in the regular formation of Athletic. As a striker, he scored one goal each against Drogheda United and Sligo Rovers in two consecutive away games. McGrath made his very first appearances in the European Cup against Skonto Riga in July 2015 for Athletic . With the club he won in 2015 the final of the League of Ireland Cup against Galway United in the penalty shootout with 4: 3.
Although he struggled with shin problems early in 2016 , he was regularly used in attacking midfield during the season . His only appearance in Europe for the season was against FK Dinamo Minsk from Belarus. He was able to successfully defend the League of Ireland Cup with the team against Limerick FC . After a good season for McGrath, he was voted St. Patrick's Athletic Young Player of the Season by fans of the club.
In January 2017, McGrath moved to Dundalk FC within Ireland . With his new club he dominated Irish football for the next three years. Two championship titles jumped out in 2018 and 2019 . In the Irish Cup competitions there were successes in the Irish Cup , League of Ireland Cup, President of Ireland's Cup and Champions Cup .
After three successful seasons in Dundalk , he moved to the Scottish first division club FC St. Mirren in January 2020 .
National team
Jamie McGrath played six times for the Irish U19 national team between 2014 and 2015 . He made his debut on November 13, 2014 against Malta when he came on for Ryan Manning . In February 2015, he scored two goals in a 6-0 win over Azerbaijan .
In 2018, McGrath played three games in the U21 national team . He made his debut in this age group against Germany in September 2018.
