Jozo Šimunović (born August 4, 1994 in Zagreb ) is a Bosnian - Croatian football player . The defender last played for Celtic Glasgow in the Scottish Premiership .
Career
society
Jozo Šimunović was born in Zagreb in August 1994 during the Croatian War . He joined Dinamo Zagreb at the age of 12 and played for the club in the junior division until 2013. In March 2013, at the age of 18, he made his debut in the professional team in the game against NK Istra in 1961 . Under coach Krunoslav Jurčić , he was used in two other league games until the end of the season . His first professional goal was scored by the central defender Šimunović in the second of the three games in a 5-0 home win against NK Zadar . At the end of the season, the Croatian championship was won. In the following season 2013/14 ee came under the new coach Zoran Mamić in 23 games and scored two goals. Dinamo won the championship again at the end of the season by eleven points over HNK Rijeka . In the 2014/15 season , Šimunović won the championship and cup double with Dinamo ; he completed 20 league games. After starting the 2015/16 season as a regular on the first six match days, he moved to the Scottish club Celtic Glasgow on September 1, 2015 . Šimunović is the first Croat in the history of the Celtic club. He is supposed to replace Virgil van Dijk , who was sold to Southampton FC , in central defense in Glasgow .
National team
Jozo Šimunović has been playing internationally for Croatia since 2008 . He began his international playing career in the Croatian U-14 national team. From 2013, Šimunović came through the youth teams of U-15, U-16, U-17 , U-18 and U-19 with whom he participated in the U-19 European Championship in Estonia in 2012 , as well as the U-20 also used in the U-21 selection of his home country, in which he played as team captain in some games.
