The Eis- uns Rollsport Club Waldbronn eV ( ERC Waldbronn for short ) is an ice sports club from Waldbronn in Baden-Württemberg . It consists of the categories stick shooting , figure skating , curling and ice hockey .

history

The ERC Waldbronn eV was founded in 1981 with the opening of the ice rink Eistreff . In the first few years there were two hobby teams in addition to the ERC, but they were united in the ERC in the second year after the club was founded. Thus, the club already had three ice hockey teams in the 1983/1984 season: a first team that participated in the league (at that time in the Baden-Württemberg League ), a hobby team that mainly played friendly matches and a youth team that played in games measured with Rastatt , stone walls and Hügelsheim .

In the early 1990s, the club had ambitions to move up to a higher league. Two Canadians and later two Hungarian players were signed for this. However, it did not succeed in achieving the ambitious goal of promotion. During these days, an average of 400 to 500 spectators were in the ice club at home games to cheer on their team. The youth work was also very successful. The ERC youth team took part in the Baden-Württemberg Junior League , in which clubs like Villingen-Schwenningen , Mannheim and Freiburg im Breisgau played their junior teams.

For the 1994/1995 season, a team had come together again, which once again had promotion in mind. Their strength was shown in test matches against the Canadian Army team in Zweibrücken and Mannheim.

In 1996 the club had 160 members, 100 of whom were young people in the fields of figure skating and ice hockey.

When the closure of the ice rink in need of renovation became known, many players moved to Pforzheim , Hügelsheim or other clubs in the area. What remained were the fields of ice stock with 15 members and ice hockey with 11 members. Only the curling team was still in training, as they could also train on asphalt. In the following years, the club hoped that the ice club would reopen.

In October 2003, a referendum finally succeeded in resuming the association's work in a newly renovated ice rink. In the 2003/2004 season, the aim was to set up a hobby and a youth ice hockey team. The figure skating had to be rebuilt from scratch as there was no one who remained loyal to the club without ice.
